If you don't plan on wearing your hat often, it becomes important to keep your hat away from dust and dirt. Try keeping your hat in a box if possible otherwise use a loosely wrapped plastic bag to cover it.
Things to do for your hat:
- Clean water and grease spots on a felt hat with baby powder. Avoid all liquid cleaners.
- To remove dirt from a straw hat just wipe it with a clean cloth. If a felt hat it is better to use a soft brush.
- Avoid storing your hat side up on a flat surface. Of preference store it upside down on a clean surface.
- Keep the sweatband dry as possible, avoid drying it with any heat source as heat could shrink the band.
- Handle your hats softly and do not apply too much pressure on it, otherwise you could deteriorate some areas of your hat.
- Do not leave your hat exposed to the sun in the back of your car, next to a window or in any other closed space.
- If your hat looses its shape use steam and shape it back slowly with your hands, never apply direct heat on your hats.
- Never pinch the crown of your hat, pick your hat by the top and back when removing it from your head.
